WINGATE, N.C. (NCBWA) – The defending national champion Tampa Spartans remain the number one team in this week’s NCBWA top 25 poll, which was released Wednesday afternoon. Tampa received 19 of the 20 first-place votes, earning the top spot for the eighth straight week.
The top nine is unchanged this week, while Florida Southern moves up one spot to round out the top 10. Young Harris is up three spots to #11 this week, while Davenport and Thomas Jefferson each jump up two spots to 18th and 20th, respectively. West Chester climbs three spots, checking in at #19 this week.
There are three new teams in this week’s poll, led by West Florida at #21. Lewis is 24th, while Bentley rounds out this week’s poll at #25.
The NCBWA Region polls will be announced every Monday throughout the season, while national polls will come out every Wednesday. Next week (May 14) will be the final top 25 poll until after the national championship game.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Dick Howser Trophy, Regional Players of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors Division I Players of the Week, the Stopper of the Year, and publication and writing contests.
