Highlights of the NCBWA's National Player of the Year.

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association has announced LSU outfielder Chris Stanfield as the inaugural winner of the Tony Gwynn Trophy, in a vote of NCBWA board members, collegiate baseball coaches and media members.

Arizona relief pitcher Tony Pluta has been named the 2025 Stopper of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), the organization announced Friday. Pluta becomes the fifth player from the Big 12 Conference to earn this accolade, joining Kansas’ Don Czyz (2006) and Texas’ J. Brent Cox (2005), Chance Ruffin (2010) and Corey Knebel (2011).

Florida State shortstop Alex Lodise, coming off the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year and numerous national honors, is the 38th recipient of the 2025 Dick Howser Trophy presented by The Game Headwear.

In the midst of the best season in program history, Murray State head coach Dan Skirka has been named the 2025 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Mike Martin National Coach of the Year.

Grambling State junior outfielder Cameron Hill and Purdue Fort Wayne sophomore infielder Justin Osterhouse were named National Co-Hitters of the Week, while Texas A&M junior left-handed pitcher Justin Lamkin was named National Pitcher of the Week.

This prestigious award in college baseball has been given to the top player based on two rounds of national voting by NCBWA members since 1987.

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released its NCAA Division II National Players of the Week awards the week ending on May 11, 2025. Colorado Mesa junior outfielder Cameron Cartwright, is the National Hitter of the Week and Northwest Nazarene senior lefty Ernesto Lugo-Canchola is the National Pitcher of the Week.

Oregon State senior catcher Wilson Weber and Southern Illinois redshirt senior infielder Matt Schark were named National Co-Hitters of the Week, while Mississippi State junior right-handed pitcher Evan Siary was named National Pitcher of the Week.

The Gwynn Trophy winner will be selected from this group of nine finalists, in a vote by NCBWA board members, select college baseball coaches and national media members.

Connecticut graduate student outfielder Sam Biller was named National Hitter of the Week, while Arkansas junior left-handed pitcher Zach Root and Michigan State junior left-handed pitcher Joseph Dzierwa were named National Co-Pitchers of the Week.

Performances that saw a .727 on-base percentage, a program record 19 strikeouts and three homers to set a program single season record captured the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Div. III honors for the week of April 21-27.
